Trash the Dress

My sister and I really enjoyed the lovely weather on Thanksgiving weekend this year, as it meant superb Trash the Dress photos! My sister Trish is a professional make-up artist, and was kind enough to do both mine and her make-up for this photo shoot. I took her photo’s while wearing my wedding gown, and she took mine while wearing hers. We had a blast! And for the record – trashing the dress has nothing to do with our spouses, and everything to do with making use out of a dress we will never wear again.

Let me know if you would like to Trash or Rock your wedding dress – as I have the team to put it into place!

Dubbele Dutch

Dubbele Dutch has created its very own Etsy Shop!!!! :)

What is Dubbele Dutch you ask? Dubbele Dutch is an arts & crafts company created by my sister (Amanda Pickford), and myself. We are Dutch sisters on either end of Canada who need to find a way to connect with each other creatively. So this is what we came up with! Together we have made an arts & crafts shop on Etsy, and plan to work together to make the most brilliant crafts you have ever seen! Visit us today!!

Challenge #2 – Portrait of a Friend

GROUP OF ART CHALLENGE – ART EXHIBITION

@ Bohemian Cafe & Gallery

Challenge #2 – Portrait of a Friend
Friday August 5th, 7 – 9 pm

In this challenge each of the 24 artists have been teamed up with a friend in the group and asked to create a self portrait each other, which displays their personality and are challenged to share/expose characteristics of their friend in their artwork.

For this challenge I was partnered with gnome maker – Naomi Brinkoff. The first thing I noticed about Naomi was her larger than life smile! So, that’s exactly what I did, I painted her smile at a size of 24 inches by 48 inches. I then overlapped all the writing from her blog with a phototransfer. Looks way better in real life! Go and see it before August 12th! Nom’s and I have decided to switch art pieces, can’t wait to hang my portrait on the wall! Visit Naomi’s blog at http://www.nomshomestudio.blogspot.com/

Artist to Arts Educator

The grand finale! Our year end presentation is meant to be a representation of our journey through teacher college at York University. We had a few guidelines to follow; it had to be under 10 minutes, we needed to explore another art form other than our own, and if we were visual arts (me) we needed to incorporate technology into our presentation.

My good friend Lana and I decided to pair up, as she is a music major (jazz voice), and I am a visual artist. From the beginning of the year we started to record little snippets our our journey. We then compiled these videos in order, and then reversed them. Lana also wrote some music, while also combining music with preexisting songs to make a music montage. Our artistic representation is titled “Look Forward then Look Back”. This theme and title of our presentation is starting with the end in mind, which is needed as educators.

Sassy Paws Photography

I have always had two websites, this one, and my pet photography website. I have been finding it too difficult to upkeep both sites, so I have now decided to merge both together! You can now view my pet photography portfolio on this website in the gallery. Say goodbye to Sassy Paws Photography, and hello to Pet Photography at www.elizabethlouter.com!
